Harry Potter, Sonic, and more coming to Lego Dimensions in 2016

Today, Warner Bros. Interactive entertainment, TT Games, and The LEGO Group has unveiled new content for its bestselling game, LEGO Dimensions.

With these upcoming expansion packs, LEGO Dimensions intends to bolster its existing content with 16 more universes, including: Harry Potter, Sonic the Hedgehog, Adventure Time, Mission Impossible, E.T., and The Goonies. Soon to be released films, such as the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and the new Ghostbusters team are also expected.

In addition to this new character content, this expansions will include all-new battle arenas, larger adventure worlds, and will introduce story packs, which provide even deeper story-driven gameplay.

These new content packs will begin launching on September 27th this year, starting with the Ghostbusters Story Pack. Additional packs intend to be released in waves stretching into the summer of next year, and will be compatible with all previous content found in waves 1-9. No new starter packs will be required, and the existing LEGO Toy Pad will also be compatible.

Each Battle Arena will have four different gameplay modes, including their own traps, special powers, and interactive environments.

Warner Bros. and TT Games have confirmed some concrete details on some of the packs, including that The Ghostbusters Story Pack will include a complete movie-based game experience, with six puzzled levels and new LEGO Gateway bricks that allow players to build locations like Zhu’s Chinese Restaurant. A buildable Abby Yates LEGO minifigure with Proton Blaster and a reconfigurable  3-in-1 Ecto-1/ Ectozer/ PerfEcto will also be included.

The Ghostbuster pack will also unlock “Rip”, a new toy pad mode which allows players access to an alternate mirror world where players will be able to solve puzzles and affect objects in the primary one. The buildable Abby Yates toy provides access to a themed Adventure World with it’s own Battle Arena.

The upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them pack will provide similar content, and is planned to be released later this year.

I've been a huge fan and critic of games and movies ever since I had a voice to speak about them. I love power and influence of great storytelling, interactive and otherwise, and now want to be more than just a consumer. My biggest strength in this regard?
Almost every time, I'm fair all the time.
