Nightlight
Apparent Weight: Medium-Light
Genre: Cooperative Card Game, Teddy Bears

Nightlight caught my eye with its unique watercolor-esque artwork and pulled me in with the theme. Players are fearless stuffed animals taking on the impending night to defend the nightlight from nasty nightmares. The game has just enough seriousness to keep it from being outright silly, yet still looks awesome. I just wish they would have gone with a more polished publisher than GameCrafter.

Warband
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Euro-American Hybrid, Fantasy Warfare

Many people have tried it, many have come close, and very few have succeeded: blending equal amounts of European strategy with American combat and theme. Warband may be on to something with this game about battling fantasy factions. I don’t see any dice, just a bunch of cubes to push around, but they have many reviewers lined up talking about how much they liked the game.

Dead Men Tell No Tales
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Cooperative, Pirates, Tile Laying

Who does not like a good pirate game? I certainly love them. The seasoned folks at Minion Games are running a campaign for what looks like a beautifully illustrated game of pirate action. Players are cooperatively running in to a burning ship, full of traps and and a cursed undead crew to steal what is left of the treasure.

Roar-a-Saurus
Apparent Weight: Light
Genre: Dice rolling

Indie Boards and Cards have been incredibly active on Kickstarter in the past few months, but really only with expansions to their existing games. This is yet another “family friendly” dice game. I would say that every publisher needs one of these, but IBaC already has one, Dragon Slayer. What I find particularly interesting is IBaC movement away from the normal boardgaming campaign model. There are no stretch goals and no exclusives. The project page even suggests that backers wait to buy the game from an online retailer in a few months when it becomes available. So, I guess, don’t back this one.

Secrets of the Lost Tomb
Apparent Weight: Medium
Genre: Cooperative, Adventure

This is not the first time for Secrets of the Lost Tomb to make its way onto Kickstarter. The game previously had a successful campaign in January of this year. This particular campaign is specifically for including miniatures to the game. I have never really understood why they have not hired a graphic artist, but plenty of people have said that the game is great.
