Oculus Rift Beta version of Strike Suit Zero now available for testing

Strike-Suit-Zero-2Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the title above proclaims the truth. Now, before you get all excited about Oculus Rift games coming out for the masses, you still won’t be able to play it unless you have the Oculus Rift dev kit, which is available for $300 (if you’re legit, i.e. working on a project). Regardless, Strike Suit Zero has been turning a lot of heads amongst players and developers alike lately, not least in part because of its staggeringly successful Kickstarter campaign put on by the developer and publisher, Born Ready Games.

Having reviewed the arcade-style companion game, Strike Suit Infinity, for PC, I can attest to its wily, gravity-defying fun, and I can imagine how the Oculus Rift headset will provide an ideal platform for the type of visuals and gameplay that the game utilizes. In other words, for a game centered on dogfights in space, it’ll be awesome to physically turn your head to check your six for bogeys in hot pursuit, or look straight up to execute the perfect barrel roll, a.k.a. “the barf bag maneuver”. Pass me the dramamine tablets, please.

The developers have urged users to remember that this game is still ‘very Beta,’ but to report bugs, comments, and suggestions using the Strike Suit Zero Beta section of their forums, which can be perused here. You can purchase the regular PC version of the game via Steam for $19.99, and for even more information, check out the official site. For a bit more of a behind-the-scenes look into how the guys at Born Ready Games have been putting together this ambitious and soon-to-be groundbreaking project, check out the video below. Enjoy!
