Change your passwords, folks–Ubisoft was hacked

picard-facepalm-620x350It seems like there’s new security breaches in the gaming world at least once every month, and it looks like July is no exception.  Ubisoft today announced that one of its online services had been hacked, and that the intruder had access to “user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords.”

You may be wondering what “encrypted passwords” means?  It means that while your password wasn’t stored in plain text, it is possible that the hacker could crack the security on it.  If you had a login to Ubisoft’s services (including Uplay) you’ll definitely want to go change your password.  If you used the same password for your email address (and shame on you if you did!) you’ll want to change that password ASAP.
