Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment along with Techland have just announced the development of a survival horror game entitled Dying Light for next-gen / current-gen consoles and PC for a 2014 release. The developers seem interested in capitalizing on a recent wave of survival horror enthusiasm, seen in recent weeks with the hype surrounding titles like Resident Evil: Revelations and Bethesda’s The Evil Within. Can this be the start of a genuine comeback for the embattled, once hugely popular genre? We’ve got the inside scoop right here:
Basically, the screenshots provided (see below) look absolutely gorgeous, and it seems like the developers will be utilizing the next-gen rendering capabilities to the utmost of their abilities. Paweł Marchewka, CEO of Techland, had this to say about their current work on this exciting new project:
The next-gen technology allows us to create a truly dynamic open world that features a game-changing day-night cycle. Inventive free running mechanics also allow for nearly unrestricted exploration and weapon-crafting to further enhance the action survival experience.
Sounds like it’ll be a grand old romp in the tradition of games like Dead Island (but scarier). Oh that’s right, Techland made Dead Island! I guess they picked the right guys for the job.
