NYU to host free games talk on 02/15/13

Heads up, anybody out there reading from the New York area, you’ve got a pretty cool opportunity coming your way. The NYU Game Center, a meuseum / exhibition hall dedicated to “the exploration of games as a cultural form and game design as creative practice” is offering a free event later in the week.

The centerpiece of the event will be a talk by Chris Melissinos, author of The Art of Games. The talk, titled “Achievement Unlocked: the Rise of Video Games in Global Culture.” The talk…

…will discuss how video games have grown in importance, the opportunity they represent in transforming culture, and how he turned this passion into one of the most visited exhibitions in the history of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
