Bethesda updates Skyrim HD texture pack on Steam – Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn textures added

I love it when a game continues to be supported well after launch. To that end, I’m glad to report that Skyrim has received an update to its free HD texture pack DLC – with expansions Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn now getting in on the HD goodness. For those of you who haven’t heard of this, the basic rundown is that this free (if sizable – 4.5+ gigabyte) DLC will substantially improve the graphics of your game, assuming you’ve got the juiced up hardware to handle it.

The Bethesda blog post has some information about the recommended hardware for this DLC, so take note:

Before you download, make sure your PC has the horsepower to support it. Make sure your system requirements exceed Skyrim’s recommended specs before attempting to install, and that your PC has Windows Vista/7, a minimum of 4GB of system RAM, and a DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with at least 1 GB of RAM and the latest drivers.

If you already have the Skyrim texture pack, be aware that you’ll be downloading an update that’s approximately 4.7 GB in size.

Not the most demanding requirements in the world either. So for those of you who are still running around in the world of Tamriel on the PC and who want to flesh out the scenery and creatures and nordic folk some, head on over to the Steam page and get this one installed.
