kinect1 Permanent Price Drop for KinectThe Kinect has been sitting pretty at a price of $149 for the last couple years, and has been selling like motion-tracking hotcakes. Now, all you cheapskates can join in on the motion gaming fun. According to Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, the Kinect will be seeing a permanent price drop just in time for the Holidays. All of you holdouts can slice virtual fruit and dance the night away at a reduced price.

Today we are announcing a new price for Kinect. The new permanently reduced price will be US $109.99 in US. There will be also a permanently reduced price in North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions where Kinect is sold. Additionally, on October 4, the Kinect sensor will be available for a permanently reduced price in Australia and New Zealand.

The final retail price will vary in each region based on the currency and other variables

There are no price drop plans for EMEA and Japan.

While core gamers may scoff at the Kinect (and rightly so), I know lots of people who have tons of fun playing games like Dance Central, my daughter has a blast playing Once Upon a Monster, and I personally found The Gunstringer to be pretty fun. Anything that gets more people playing games is perfectly fine in my book.
