Street Fighter X Tekken A Whole Bundle of Capcom Announcements

See this picture of M. Bison kicking a disgruntled bear? Starting later this year, this could very well be a scene from a PlayStation 3 player beating down a Vita owner through the newly announced cross-platform support for Street Fighter X Tekken.  I’d even go so far as to say it’s a very likely scene if I’m involved, as my skill with this game is well defined by my ability to get kicked.

Unified PS3 and Vita play is just one of the announcements coming out of their annual showcase, Captivate, and we’ve got the full summary inside!

The extreme and unpredictable conditions that characterized the Lost Planet® series return, harsher than ever before in Lost Planet 3. Players take on the role of Jim, a utility rig pilot who has left Earth to take on a hazardous but lucrative contract on E.D.N. III. Delivering a diverse range of gameplay, including third-person on-foot battles and intense first-person utility rig action, players will need to brave the uncharted terrain, hostile climate and threat of indigenous Akrid creatures. With a number of multiplayer modes and a compelling single player experience, Lost Planet 3 will delve deeper into the Lost Planet universe, uncovering hidden truths when it releases in early 2013.

After confirming Lost Planet 3 is in full-fledged development, Capcom further surprised attendees by shifting the release date for Resident Evil 6 from November 20th all the way up to October 2nd.  The popular action-horror franchise heralds the return of Leon S. Kennedy, the man bad enough to take on a solo mission to rescue the President of the United States’ kidnapped daughter in Resident Evil 4.

Capcom also took the opportunity to show off the recently announced PlayStation Move support for Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection, the innovative controller-plus-Kinect designed for Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, and their original open-world RPG Dragon’s Dogma.
