Telltale’s Jurassic Park Goes Gold

Citing it as the largest product product launch in the company’s history, Telltale Games today confirms that their long-anticipated adventure game based on the first Jurassic Park movie has been completed and released to replication.  Jurassic Park: The Game will bring a new perspective to the events of the original Spielberg-directed film by casting players in the role of someone elsewhere on the island when — spoiler alert! — dinosaurs get chompy.

Jurassic Park: The Game is a cinematic adventure that takes players back to Isla Nublar – the site of Jurassic Park – during the events of the first movie. It allows them to experience Jurassic Park as they never have before in an interactive format. In addition to locations and creatures familiar to fans of the movie, the game offers new areas to explore and new prehistoric beasts to survive in a game that combines fast-paced action, exploration and puzzle-solving.

Jurassic Park: The Game represents something of a departure from previous Telltale games, adopting a more fluid plot in which player decisions can affect how events play out, and a new emphasis on action sequences in which the player’s character can actually die.  The development team has previously cited Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain as an inspiration for how to expand the scope of what an adventure game can be.

The 360 version will be a physical product sold through local retailers, and GameStop is even offering a free T-Rex avatar pet as a preorder incentive.  PS3, Mac, and PC versions will launch simultaneously through their available downloadable services starting November 15th, with an iPad version to follow “shortly after.”
