If you’ve been planning to pick up a new, larger Nintendo DS this year, you might want to keep your wallet closed for another couple weeks. Starting November 6th, Nintendo will begin packaging a free copy of Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! with new Metallic Rose and Midnight Blue versions of the DSi XL.
In Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!, players must help Mario™ rescue Pauline by guiding Mini Marios through more than 200 puzzle levels filled with traps set by Donkey Kong™. Players use the stylus on the touch screen to strategically guide the Mini Marios, place items and solve different puzzles. Players with a broadband Internet connection can even construct their own levels or download additional levels using Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection.
The DSi XL sports screens nearly twice the size of the regular DS, as well as superior sound and battery life compared to the system’s lighter, smaller versions. Though the larger screens do not offer a sharper fidelity, maintaining the standard 256×192 resolution and simply increasing the size of the pixels, I write from extensive personal experience when I say the artwork of the average DS game holds up extremely well under this sort of magnification.
Metallic Rose and Midnight Blue DSi XL bundles will be available for an suggested price of $169.99 beginning early next month.
