Reports are now coming in from both Kotaku and Joystiq that Gamestop is now directing its stores to pull the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution from store shelves for future recall. From the information gathered, this is in agreement with Square Enix, presumably to allow Square Enix to send a separate version of the game without the coupon to the retailer for future sale.
This email was sent after the previous email which directed stores to remove the coupons for a digital copy of the game on OnLive, a game-streaming service which is in competition with the service that Gamestop is developing after their purchase of Spawn Labs.
Gamestop has removed the boxed PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution from their website, although the digital version is still for sale. Also, as per the email, they will be honoring all returns with a receipt. So, if you purchased Deus Ex: Human Revolution at Gamestop and did not receive your coupon for the digital copy via OnLive, you can return it for a full refund.
We’ll continue to follow this story as it develops and will update with any new information.
