skyjump Skyward Sword Soars November 20th

After years of suspense, Nintendo has finally locked down the release date for Link’s second outing on the Wii.  Unless you count Link’s Crossbow Training, which of course we don’t.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is an entirely new adventure, making extensive use of the Wii’s “Remote Plus” or “Motion Plus” attachment for actions from bow shooting, bomb rolling, boomerang-steering, and even one-to-one sword movements in combat.  Though timing is still important, the new control scheme allows for enemies who are vulnerable to specific directional attacks, or even have subtargets players can swing for on the fly.

The game includes a massive, multilayered world that takes players from dark dungeons to a diverse overworld to cloud cities in the sky, requiring a combination of puzzle-solving and swordplay to unlock all of its secrets. Link soars through the air on the wings of a majestic bird while exploring the game’s sky area, providing players with unprecedented freedom of movement as they progress on their adventure. The quest lays the foundation for the events in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is frequently cited as one of the greatest video games of all time.

Speaking as a huge fan of Twilight Princess, November 20th can’t come soon enough for me!
